Pharmacology

Diclazepam acts as a positive allosteric modulator of GABA_A receptors, producing anxiolytic, muscle-relaxant, sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant, and amnestic effects in vitro and animal studies.

Metabolism involves N-demethylation to delorazepam (detectable in urine for ~6 days) and other metabolites such as lorazepam (~19 days) and lormetazepam (~11 days). Half-life is approximately 42 hours.

Observed effects in research models include anxiety reduction, sedation, muscle relaxation, and anticonvulsant activity. Human effects are untested and therefore unpredictable.
